Finance – General Office Accountant
Purpose
A structured General Office Accountant role is critical to the success of the Eagle River Casino & Travel Plaza. The primary purpose of the General Office Accountant is to provide reconciliation of the Count Room and the Slot Bank on a daily basis.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the General Office Accountant will be responsible for providing support to the finance department with strong emphasis on accuracy and analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Balance sheet and GL reconciliations to ensure accurate representation of business.
- Daily bank reconciliation.
- Assist with the timely and accurate production of financial statements.
- Accurate daily data entry within general ledger and cash management modules of accounting system.
- Work is performed within policies included in provincial and federal law as well as tribal, gaming and administrative regulations with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and subject to periodic review on the basis of results achieved.

Impact of Action
The General Office Accountant has a direct impact on the ability to provide Eagle River Casino & Travel Plaza guests, staff and management with a safe and suitable environment in which to visit and/or work.
Key Working Relationships
This position requires the ability to communicate clearly, deal tactfully and work effectively with Eagle River Casino & Travel Plaza guests, staff and management. The incumbent in this position will provide a primary interface to other Casino & Plaza departments.
Latitude of Action
The General Office Accountant is expected to report on all events that could have a negative effect on the operations or reputation of the Eagle River Casino & Travel Plaza. The activities and authority of the General Office Accountant is guided by the Eagle River Casino & Travel Plaza Visions and Values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of audit procedures as well as evaluating, analyzing and testing internal control systems.
- Minimum 2 years work related experience.
- Prior cash management, accounts receivable/payable and payroll system management experience an asset.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to coordinate at all levels of the organization.
- Highly developed analytical and creative thinking skills a must.
- Post secondary education in accounting or business administration an asset.

This position will work in an office setting. The hours of work may vary and overtime may be required during peak business periods, and standard hours may be different in the service industry.
